Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon And More Shine At The Palm Springs International Film Festival

 

On Saturday, some of Hollywood's biggest and brightest headed to the desert for this year's Palm Springs Film Festival, including Tinseltown stalwarts Brad Pitt and Reese Witherspoon.

The Fury star was on hand for presenting duties while the Wild actress, who wore a stunning pearl-embroidered Michael Kors dress, was there being honored for her role in the aforementioned film based on Cheryl Strayed's 2012 memoir of the same name.

The 38-year-old Academy Award winner was also honored with the Chairman's Award, joining prior recipients Tom Hanks, Dustin Hoffman, Nicole Kidman, George Clooney, Ben Affleck, and Richard Gere.

Benedict Cumberbatch, Sofie Hunter, Robert Downey Jr., Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) and Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) were just some of the many stars who attended the 26th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival in what seemed to be a night to remember.

“The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” is showing some impressive fight at the box office.
The Middle Earth send-off held its ground, securing the top spot on the charts for a third consecutive weekend. The New Line and MGM co-production picked up $21.9 million, driving its domestic total to $220.8 million.

It was a robust start to 2015 and ends the winter holidays on a high note. The post-New Year box office was up roughly 8%. The strong ticket sales come after a disappointing year at the multiplexes — ticket sales plunged 5.2% in 2014 while attendance hit a two-decade low.

Gwyneth Paltrow covers the February issue of Marie Claire, and she really opens up about her split from estranged husband Chris Martin. In fact, the magazine's reporter notes that Gwyneth cried during the interview.

On their current relationship status, Gwyn says:

    "We’ve worked really f*cking hard to get to [this] point. But we’re very, very close, and it’s so nice. I feel like it’s, in a way, the relationship we were meant to have."


"There was nothing dramatic or anything," she continued. "I had built my life on trying to be all things to all people, and I just couldn’t do it anymore, and I really had the sense that I wasn’t allowed to have needs, and I had to prove my specialness or self-worth by doing all this stuff and taking care of everybody else, and I just sort of hit a wall."

Last night Taylor Swift was among the all-star list of musicians who performed in Times Square, and they two went all out -- in not much at all! I want to see you shake it off!"

After her set, Ryan Seacrest joked, "That was Taylor Swift and Shake It Off, looking more like take it off." When asked about her clothes (or lack thereof), Tay said, "I am absolutely freezing. This was the wrong choice," but lucky for her, Ryan offered her his coat.

As far as freezing temps, it should be noted that Fergie actually hosted a pre-recorded concert here in Los Angeles, but other performers braving the cold in the Big Apple for New Year's Rockin Eve included One Direction, Iggy Azalea, Charli XCX and Idina Menzel:
