Jennifer Lawrence just purchased Jessica Simpson's former Beverly Hills mansion for $7 million, E! News reports. The fashion mogul bought the pad for $5.2 million back in 2005, shortly after her divorce from Nick Lachey, and sold it for $6.4 million in October 2013.

The 5,500-square-foot home was built in 1991 and features 5 bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. The massive master bedroom has a private deck with a view of the lush grounds, while the large family room opens into the botanical gardens, which include a gated courtyard with a swimming pool and koi pond. The house also has an office, a gym, and a library. Ellen DeGeneres and Paul Hogan are two of the estate's past owners.

Cream Bassist Jack Bruce Dead at 71

Jack Bruce, the singer and bassist for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Cream, has passed away, his family confirmed the musician's passing on his Facebook page. He was 71.

"It is with great sadness that we, Jack’s family, announce the passing of our beloved Jack: husband, father, granddad, and all round legend. The world of music will be a poorer place without him, but he lives on in his music and forever in our hearts," the Bruce family wrote. Bruce's publicist added, "He died today at his home in Suffolk surrounded by his family." No other details were revealed but the Press Association reports that the bassist suffered from liver disease.

Aaron Sorkin Confirms Christian Bale Playing Steve Jobs In Sony Movie

Christian Bale will play Steve Jobs in Sony's upcoming biopic about the late Apple co-founder, screenwriter Aaron Sorkin confirmed in a Bloomberg Television interview with Emily Chang.

“We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that’s Chris Bale,” Sorkin said. “He didn’t have to audition. Well, there was a meeting.”

Bale was originally eyed to play Jobs when David Fincher was in talks to direct. Leonardo DiCaprio had also been in talks to star as Jobs before he bowed out and Bale emerged as a frontrunner, along with Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Bradley Cooper.

The film, an adaptation of Walter Isaacson's 2011 biography titled Steve Jobs, is set to begin shooting in the next couple of months, Bloomberg reported, with Danny Boyle set to direct after Fincher left the project. Sony optioned the best-selling book in 2011 around the time of Jobs' death.

Keanu Reeves Is Upset That Hollywood Studios Have Abandoned Him

Few actors have delivered as many box-office hits as Keanu Reeves has over the last 30 years, and few have suffered more as a result of Hollywood studios’ new era of franchise building and risk aversion.

The actor known for Bill & Ted, Point Break, Speed, and The Matrix trilogy stars in the upcoming John Wick, which, while filled with action, is yet another independent film.

In fact, Reeves hasn’t worked with a major studio since the big-budget martial-arts flick 47 Ronin bombed big time for Universal in 2013 (expensive re-shoots delayed it a year), and before that, he hadn’t worked with a studio since the 2008 Warner Brothers remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still. As he explains in a new interview, he’s not all that happy about the studio abandonment.

"It sucks, but it’s just the way it is," Reeves tells Indiewire. “You can have positive and negative experiences, but what I like about studios are the resources and the worlds that they can create. Obviously, a lot of good filmmakers work on studio movies. Even when I was working on studio movies more often, I was always doing independent movies. So for me, that was just not happening, but I want to keep going, making things, and telling stories.”

Leave it to James Franco to put up a bizarre pic of a bloody movie star and not explain it. On Tuesday, the film star posted a bald pic of himself and a blood-covered Jennifer's Body actress Megan Fox. We aren't sure which one of them is grosser.

Jennifer Lopez is in the final stages of making a deal to perform in Vegas ... and according to the contract, she'll rake in more per show than Britney Spears.

Jennifer is being offered a whopping $350K per show at The Axis at Planet Hollywood ... the same place Britney is performing.

Britney is making a paltry $310K a show.

But Britney will ultimately score more than J-Lo because her contract provides she'll do 96 shows over 2 years. J-Lo will do 72 shows, 3 times a week for 24 weeks over a 1 or 2 year period -- the contract leaves that open.

So, in the end, Britney is guaranteed $29,760,000 for the 2-year run. J-Lo will be guaranteed $26,383,326.

The British Film Institute has provided a brand new trailer for the UK theatrical re-release of director Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. It will return to cinemas across the country on November 28th.

Oscar Pistorius Will Spend 5 Years in Prison For Homicide

From a globally lauded athlete to convicted killer, Oscar Pistorius' fall from grace culminated Tuesday with a five-year sentence in the shooting death of his girlfriend.

The sentence was imposed for the charge of culpable homicide, which in South Africa means a person was killed unintentionally, but unlawfully.

He was also given a three-year sentence on a firearms charge, but it was suspended.

During his trial, the double-amputee sprinter often sobbed at the mention of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp's name. He insisted that he mistook her girlfriend for an intruder when he shot her through a toilet door on Valentine's Day 2013.

Opening the session Tuesday, Judge Thokozile Masipa emphasized that the decision on sentencing would be "mine and mine alone."

She pointed out that sentencing is not an exact science but relies on an assessment of elements including the nature and seriousness of the crime, the personal circumstances of the accused and the interests of society.

Legendary Fashion Designer Oscar de la Renta Dies At 82

Legendary fashion designer Oscar de la Renta, who spent half a century putting high society in haute couture, has died. He was 82.

The cause of his death, announced Monday by close family friends and industry colleagues, was not immediately clear. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2006, but said last year he was "totally clean."

"The only realities in life are that you are born, and that you die," he told an audience at New York's 92Y "Fashion Talks" series in June 2013. "We always think we are going to live forever. The dying aspect we will never accept. The one thing about having this kind of warning is how you appreciate every single day of life."

David Letterman's famous cue card guy on "Late Show" was given the boot this week ... after he says he cussed at the famous TV host backstage -- then attacked one of the writers.

Tony Mendez says he was given the boot this week over an incident that took place on Thursday ... but the real problem started the day before during a rehearsal for the show -- according to the NY Post.

Tony says he's had a problem with show writer Bill Scheft for a long time ... and during the rehearsal he snapped when Scheft interrupted his convo with Letterman -- so he told the writer to get off his back.

But when Letterman got angry at him for it Tony snapped ... telling Dave, "You're the one who has a sour disposition, mother****r."

Box Office: 'Fury' Leads The Way With $23.5 Million Debut

Brad Pitt and a squadron of up-and-coming actors held off “Gone Girl” at the multiplexes this weekend as “Fury” topped box office charts with a $23.5 million debut.

Despite surrendering first place after two weeks wearing the crown, “Gone Girl” showed some impressive stamina. David Fincher’s adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s best-selling mystery dropped just 32% to $17.8 million. Its total now stands at $107.1 million and is striking distance of surpassing “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” ($127.5 million) as Fincher’s highest-grossing domestic release. Water cooler effect achieved.

“It’s one of those movies that it’s so provocative that if you haven’t seen it yet, you have to in order to be part of the conversation,” said Chris Aronson, distribution chief at 20th Century Fox, the studio behind “Gone Girl.” “It’s as simple as that.”
