Will Disney Really Release The Unaltered Star Wars Trilogy On Blu Ray?

 

The Internet is abuzz with rumors that Disney intends to re-release the original, unaltered Star Wars trilogy in a remastered Blu-Ray box set – and in time for the release of Episode VII, no less. Could it really be true?

The speculation kicked of earlier today when Comicbook.com claimed to have it on good authority ("two independent reliable sources") that the plan to re-release the unaltered trilogy is already in motion:

According to sources, Disney has plans to release the original cut of the Star Wars trilogy on Blu-ray. Sources indicate that the project has been under way for quite some time, but it's been challenging because of some damage to the original negatives they are utilizing. The goal is to release A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of Jedi in their complete, unaltered, original form without the redone special edition SFX.

Exciting! But there's a glaring issue: Disney doesn't own the rights to the original trilogy. As Hollywood Reporter clarified back when Disney purchased Lucasfilms, those films belong to Fox:

Fox owns distribution rights to the original Star Wars, No. 4 in the series, in perpetuity in all media worldwide. And as for the five subsequent movies, Fox has theatrical, nontheatrical, and home video rights worldwide through May 2020.

Chris Martin is dating newly single Jennifer Lawrence, a source confirms. The actress split from boyfriend Nicholas Hoult last month, and the Coldplay rocker announced he was ending his marriage to Gwyneth Paltrow this past March, so it sounds like a rebound romance.

The Silver Linings Playbook star was recently spotted at the British singer's concert in New York City, and he gave a shout out to his new lady love by making a Hunger Games reference before blowing a kiss in her direction, Us Weekly reports. The new couple were also both in attendance at an after party in London in early July.

Tori Spelling adores her family and that was never more apparent on Friday as she and husband Dean McDermott took Finn, Stella, Liam and Hattie spent the day out and about in Westlake.

The reality stars and their brood got to bond big time, doing some shopping at Sephora in addition to enjoying a tasty treat during the day.

As for Tori and Dean, things seem to be on the upswing since his affair and the two are aiming to keep the past exactly where it belongs... in the past.

Kendra and Hank: Happily Together Reality Show Drama BS?

Something's fishy with Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett ... in the wake of the rumored marriage problems ... we got them on vacation together and it doesn't appear to be for show.

They were eating at a cozy beachside restaurant in Costa Rica Friday ... and the person who snapped the pic says there was no evidence of animosity ... quite the opposite.

The photog tells us they happily ate their meal with the fam without a single reality show camera in sight.
Translation: They weren't putting up a front.

It doesn't track with the new trailer for their show ... where Kendra claims she flushed her wedding ring down the toilet after Hank reportedly had an affair with a transexual or two.

Robin Williams 'Crazy Ones' Cancellation Devastating 'A Personal Failure'

Robin Williams was "devastated' when his TV show, "The Crazy Ones," was cancelled ... sending him into a deep depression that ultimately led to his suicide.

Sources who frequently interacted with Williams during the last month of his life tell sources... Williams viewed the cancellation as a "personal failure." As Williams put it to one person just before the show debuted, "My face is all over town [on billboards] and it's all on my back."

We're told the cancellation after only 1 season sent Robin into a tailspin -- as one person said, "It hit him hard" -- and that's why he entered the Hazelden Addiction Treatment Center last month -- not for substance abuse, but for depression.

To make matters worse, we're told Robin was increasingly depressed that he was older and good roles for him were few and far between. He would talk about Robert De Niro, saying even he was having a hard time.

Denzel Washington Detoxes After Hard Partying

Denzel Washington just left an Orange County residence where he was staying for more than 2 weeks to detox after a wild, alcohol-fueled, gluttonous month-long vacation.

Sources connected with the actor say Denzel was on a yacht during the month of July with his wife ... and was partying and partying hard.

When he returned to L.A. ... our sources say Denzel went to the OC residence where he had professionals help him "detox."

One source says this was more than just alcohol ... it was an overall cleanse for toxins.  In addition to the professional who supervised the detox, we're told Denzel had a nutritionist, a trainer and a chef.

Denzel we're told is out and back on his game.

Robin Williams Did NOT Have Money Trouble

Robin Williams did not have money trouble and money had no connection to his depression ... although he DID complain about being taken to the cleaners "the way most divorced husbands do" ... so says a person who frequently discussed finances with the actor.

The source, who was in regular contact with Robin, said the was not cash strapped and lived "the way he wanted to," adding, "He always flew first class, took great vacations and lived in the house he loved."

As for why he was selling his Napa ranch, we're told he just didn't like going there anymore. The source says the ranch was "a thing" for Robin and his second wife, Marsha, and he just didn't enjoy going there any longer.

The source says Robin did complain over the years about "getting taken to the cleaners by his ex-wives."

Multiple sources say... money had nothing to do with the depression that ultimately led to Robin's suicide.

Phil Jackson Buys $4.85 Million Apartment In Midtown New York

Phil Jackson will be residing in midtown New York during his tenure with the Knicks. The legendary Lakers and Bulls coach turned NBA executive recently paid $4.85 million for a co-op at the Osborne, a historic brownstone building on West 57th Street.

The Gilded Age residence, built in 1883, was renovated by Ferguson and Shamamian Architects, who preserved original features including inlaid oak and cherry flooring, hand-carved pocket doors and bay windows with period stained glass insets.

The 2,600 square feet of living space features a stately wood-paneled library, wood-burning fireplaces clad in limestone, a dining room, a gallery, a living room, an updated kitchen, three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The master suite has a large closet and a bath with dual sinks.
