“Guardians” is also the fourth Marvel film to pass $700 million after “The Avengers,” “Iron Man 3″ and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”
“Guardians of the Galaxy” opened in China on Oct. 10 and has grossed $43.4 million since then, trailing only the U.K. at $47.3 million. Russia generated $37.5 million and Australia took in $24.4 million.
Italy is the film’s final market, where it will open on Oct. 22.
Marvel and Disney have already tapped director James Gunn to return for “Guardians of the Galaxy 2,” due out July 28, 2017.
