Broadway regular, TV actor and film star Neil
Patrick Harris is taking his singing, dancing, triple-threat talent
straight to the Academy Awards stage as next year's host. The How I Met Your Mother star is slated to helm the 87th Annual Academy Awards, to be held on Feb. 22, 2015, reports Variety.
"It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year's Academy Awards. I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show," Harris said in a statement. "To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true."
You may think that Harris has hosted the most watched awards show before -- but you'd be wrong. The Gone Girl actor has hosted the Tony Awards four times and the Emmys twice -- so the Oscars seem like a natural fit. We can't wait for a rousing song and dance number!
