Kobe Bryant has NOT given up on saving his marriage -- and sources close to the family say his two daughters are playing a major role in his effort to reconcile.

Apparently, Kobe is "DEEPLY DEPRESSED" over the situation -- and is very concerned about how his daughters will handle growing up in two separate households.

Last week....Vanessa decided to pull the plug after catching the NBA star in another extra-marital affair.

Bryant's family was not aware of Kobe's exploits -- but they hope he and Vanessa can find a way to get along in the future for the sake of the kids.

Baz Luhrmann 'Great Gatsby' Director INJURED On Set

Director Baz Luhrmann hit his head on a camera crane while filming "The Great Gatsby" in Sydney and the injury shut down production for the holidays earlier than expected.

Co-producer Anton Monsted told the Sydney Morning Herald, "We were on quite a cramped set and he was ducking under the crane. He struck his head on the weights on the end of the camera crane. He split open his head and we had to get the doctor."

Luhrmann required three stitches and the producers decide to send everyone home for the holidays a day early.

Melanie Amaro Declared First WINNER of 'X Factor' US

Melanie Amaro of Sunrise Florida was crowned the very first winner of X Factor US, beating out 30-year-old singer Josh Krajcik of Wooster, Ohio.

The 19-year-old couldn't hold back tears as her name was announced -- she also landed a $5 million recording contract and a starring role in a Pepsi commercial!

Amaro was too choked up to give a thank you speech after her win, so Simon Cowell spoke for her, saying: "I want to say, America, thank you for giving this girl an opportunity."

The new winner then struggled through tears to cover Beyonce's hit, "Listen," and thanked fans for their support, gushing: "Thank you so much! OMG, I don't know what even to say... God is good... Thank you America!"

But while Amaro cried tears of joy on stage, there was some major drama behind the scenes! Two crew members sustained head injuries, and another was hit in the elbow, as a stair riser came unhinged just before rapper 50 Cent took the stage.

Paramedics rushed to the scene within minutes, and all three were taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to receive treatment for their injuries.

Upon leaving the studio for the hospital, one of the injured crew members expressed: "I'm fine!

Marlon, Tito and Jackie Jackson were so thrilled with the way they performed during a recent concert in Japan ... they've decided to take their show on the road.

Sources say ... the brothers will be embarking on an 18-20 show concert tour that will span across Europe.

Apparently, the idea came together just two weeks ago -- when the guys were performing in Tokyo with a Japanese pop star named A.I.

The brothers had such a good time on stage together.... that when the idea of a tour came up, they all jumped at the opportunity!

The Jacksons are hoping to get the tour launched by next month -- their management is still trying to nail down the schedule ... so it could be pushed back by a few weeks.

George Michael Says Pneumonia Nearly Killed Me 'The Worst Month of My Life'

George Michael just showed his face for the first time since being rushed to a Vienna hospital last month with a serious case of pneumonia -- telling reporters, the illness nearly killed him.

George spoke to reporters outside his London home this morning -- claiming, doctors spent "three weeks basically keeping me alive -- It was by far, the worst month of my life."

George choked up, insinuating he had been in a coma during his time in the ICU -- "I spent the last ten days since I woke up literally thanking people for saving my life."

GM was forced to cancel his European tour over the illness -- but promises to play several concerts to make up for it ... including a private concert just for the docs who saved his life.

Michael Douglas' Son Sentenced To FOUR Additional Years In Prison

Cameron Douglas, son of actor Michael Douglas, has been sentenced to four additional years in prison for taking drugs while in jail. He was originally jailed in April 2010 on a five-year sentence for dealing meth and cocaine ... and possessing heroin.

The 33-year-old inmate reportedly asked the judge to "consider his crime a consequence of drug addiction." In court, Cameron told the judge, "You see your honor, I cannot seem to find comfort in my own skin."

Despite Douglas' plea, the judge said he needed a harsher punishment for his pattern of "reckless, disruptive and non-compliant" behavior.

Combined with his previous sentence, Douglas must now serve nine years total behind bars.

Kris Humphries Gets BOOED During First Game Back With The New Jersey Nets

Kris Humphries, the soon to be ex husband of Kim Kardashian received boos from the crowd at last night's Nets/Knicks game, and it was so bad, the commentators even addressed it on the air!

"Kris Humphries coming into the game, just signing a new deal. There's a...the boos from the fans," they said to TV viewers tuning in. "He's one of the most famous players in the NBA now, it has nothing to do with basketball but obviously with his marriage and quick divorce to Kim Kardashian. You feel bad for the young man. Julianne Moore is once again proving her incredible acting abilities by playing former Alaska governor Sarah Palin in the HBO film Game Change.

The film is based on a book with the same title that chronicles the actions of both the Republican and Democratic parties during the 2008 race.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Gets 90 DAYS IN JAIL For Beating Up Baby Mama

Floyd Mayweather Jr. got hammered by a judge today, who sentenced him to serve 90 days in jail for beating up his baby mama in front of their kids.

Floyd was sentenced to 6 months in jail, but 3 months of that sentence was suspended. He also gets 3 days credit for time he has already served.

The boxer was arrested in September 2010 -- after his ex-girlfriend accused him of striking her "multiple times in the head with his fist" and then threatening to kill her.

Floyd also pled no contest to two misdemeanor harassment charges -- after allegedly threatening to beat his kids too during the incident.

The judge was especially pissed that Mayweather struck his baby mama in front of their kids.

The judge also ordered Mayweather to complete 100 hours of community service and a 12-month domestic violence program. He was also fined $2,500.... which to Floyd is spare change.

The boxer must turn himself in on January 6, to begin serving his sentence.

Kardashian's Accused of Using Sweatshops To Create Products

The Kardashian family and their successful clothing brand are under fire with accusations that products were created in foreign sweatshops using child labor, according to Star.

Star's report claims some of the workers are as young as sixteen years old and are being abused and imprisoned against their will.

The Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights tells Star:

"The Kardashians are in bed with some pretty bad people. Not only are celebrities like the Kardashians taking advantage of these workers, they are holding hands with a government that spits on democracy and women's rights."

Workers spend seven-days-a-week making the products in "squalid factory-run dormitories filled with the stench of sewage," according to the report.

The Kardashians earned a reported $65 million last year. They have yet to issue a statement regarding these claims of what's being described as "slave labor."

HBO has CANCELED the sleeper comedies to make way for more fresh programming coming down the pipeline. Hung and Bored each ran for three seasons, and America ran for two.

In the meantime, the pay cabler ordered a second season of Enlightened, the Laura Dern comedy that just earned Golden Globe nods for best TV series (comedy/musical) and for best actress.

Gerard Butler RESCUED After Surfing Accident

Miley Cyrus Teams Up With Sean Penn In New "Help Haiti Home" Video

Miley Cyrus, Sean Penn, Zooey Deschanel, Edward Norton and a handful of other famous faces appear in the new "Help Haiti Home" video, and the celebs urge the public to donate their time and resources to those displaced by the horrific earthquake in 2010.

All proceeds benefit the J/P Haitian Relief Organization, which will help survivors make the move from the Petionville Camp to their homes. “Dreaming is not so much a right as it is a human need, and without a home, there’s little else to dream about,” Penn states in the message. Miley adds, "Home is where I have people around me that only love me and want the best for me."

Kim Kardashian SLAMS "Malicious and Untrue" Rumor

Kim Kardashian went to Haiti earlier this month with mom Kris Jenner to meet with actress Maria Bello about her charity, We Advance -- but The National Enquirer now says she went to a fashion show and "spent a fortune" pampering herself while there.

The report has Kim upset, so much so that she took to her blog earlier today to tell her side.

"While my experience was completely life-changing… a very emotional and surprisingly positive journey that I will never forget, some media outlets have tried to tarnish the motive behind my visit and have written completely ridiculous and untrue things," she writes.

Kim continues, "The truth is that I was at the Haitian Artisan Fair, where the amazing men and women who make their jewelry and crafts sell them to visitors to make a living, and I bought some beautiful jewelry!!"

"Reading this made me so disappointed in the media," says Kim. "Taking such a positive thing and writing something malicious and untrue. The journalists obviously didn’t bother to do their research and instead published a ridiculous story to sell copies."

Kim's no stranger to untrue tabloid fodder, but this instance really got her riled up.

"When a magazine makes the decision to twist the truth and write lies like that, it belittles the entire experience we had in Haiti, and I won’t let them do that."

James Cameron SUED For More Than $2.5 BILLION Over 'Avatar'

Sounds like every sci-fi nerd on the planet had the idea for "Avatar" before James Cameron -- because the director is now being sued AGAIN for allegedly stealing the concept for the movie -- this time for more than $2 bil.

Bryant Moore -- a science fiction writer not-famous for his screenplays "Aquatica" and "Descendants: The Pollination" -- claims Cameron used the two screenplays as the basis for "Avatar."

In his lawsuit, Moore points out various similarities, including bioluminescent flora/plant life, unbreathable atmospheres, matriarch support of hero vs. heroine, spiritual connections to environment and reincarnation, appearance of mist in scene, sunlight to moonlight, crackling from gargantuan foliage, blue skin/green skin and battle scene on limbs/branches.

Moore is also going after 20th Century Fox and Cameron's production company.  He wants more than $1.5 billion in actual damages and more than $1 billion in punitives.

"Avatar" made more than $2.78 billion worldwide.

North Korean Leader Kim Jong IL Dies At Age 69

Kim Jong IL, North Korea's mercurial and enigmatic leader whose iron rule and nuclear ambitions dominated world security fears for more than a decade, has died.

North Korea has been grooming Kim's third son to take over power from his father in the impoverished nation that celebrates the ruling family with an intense cult of personality.

South Korea put its military on "high alert" and President Lee Myung-bak convened a national security council meeting after the news of Kim's death.

In a "special broadcast" Monday, state media said Kim died of a heart ailment on a train due to a "great mental and physical strain" on Saturday during a "high intensity field inspection."

He was 69 years old.

J.R. Martinez is Going To Be a Father!

The Iraq war vet and Dancing with the Stars champion J.R. Martinez along with girlfriend Diana Gonzalez-Jones are expecting their first child together, due in the spring.

He broke the news yesterday to PEOPLE, telling the magazine the couple is having a girl and "With the holidays coming up, this is the biggest and best gift we could get."

His "Dancing" partner Karina Smirnoff offered up some congratulations on Twitter, telling him "heard the news @knowjr Congratulations! So happy for u! Can't wait to meet baby Diana!” -- with J.R. responding "you'll teach em dancing. lol."

J.R. is definitely one proud papa-to-be, and has been non-stop tweeting since the news broke.

"Big #thanks to everyone for the well wishes and funny comments. Didn't think it would be such news but happy for the luv! #fatherhood," he said, before adding "First thing that crossed my mind when we found out we were having a girl.All the #emotional feelings, all the #beautyproducts, & the #OMG 's"

Martinez and Gonzalez-Jones met on the set of "All My Children," he was acting in the show and she was working as an assistant to the soap's executive producer.

Weekend Box Office: 'Sherlock Holmes 2' Takes The Top Spot

 

As expected, "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" is the No. 1 movie in America -- but with only $40.2 million. Warner Bros. did not believe the movie would open as well as its 2009 predecessor, "Sherlock Holmes," but more optimistic observers figured the film would take in at least $10 million more than it did.

Fox's "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked" finished in second place, grossing an estimated $23.5 million -- just short of the studio's pre-release expectations for the G-rated film.

NFL Legend Deion Sanders is Getting a DIVORCE

Deion Sanders and his wife Pilar are getting DIVORCED.

In a statement, the NFL Hall of Famer said, "Pilar and I have decided to end our marriage and move on to the next phase of our individual lives with mutual respect. We are friends and our top priority has and will continue to be the well-being of our children."

He continues, "We arrived at this decision prayerfully and carefully in order to be able to pursue what is in both of our best personal interests."

Deion and Pilar married in 1999 and they have three children together.
