2015 Oscar Nominations: Complete List

The Academy Award nominations were announced Thursday morning in Los Angeles.

Director Wes Anderson has crossed over from art-house darling to academy favorite. The auteur’s offbeat dramedy “The Grand Budapest Hotel” scored nine nominations, equaling Alejandro González Iñárritu’s unconventional, genre-defying film, “Birdman,” for the most nominations.

The most obvious snub was “Selma,” Ava DuVernay’s moving biopic about Martin Luther King Jr. Despite a nod for best picture and best original song (for Common and John Legend’s recent Golden Globe-winning “Glory”), the film’s director and actors were shut out in their respective categories.  David Oyelowo missed out on a best actor nomination, but more surprisingly, Ava DuVernay was not acknowledged in the best director category, a nomination that would have been the first for an African American woman.

Jennifer Lopez Sizzles At Miami Premiere Of Her Sexy New Movie, "The Boy Next Door"

Wearing a geometric design by David Koma, Jennifer Lopez sizzled at the premiere of her sexy new film, The Boy Next Door, hosted by BodyLab in Miami.

In the film, Jennifer stars as recently divorced high school teacher who has a passionate one-night stand with her new, much younger neighbor (Ryan Guzman). Unfortunately, the pretty young thing turns out to be a student. Eventually, the ill-fated fling turns into a dangerous obsession.

And its possible that Jenny from the block has lit more than the silver screen on fire with her relationship with Guzman. The two seemed pretty chummy at a Golden Globes after party on Sunday, sparking the rumors that the 45-year-old and the 27-year-old were more than just costars.

The film moves into theaters on January 23.

Rosie Perez To Exit ‘The View’

After only four months on “The View,” Rosie Perez is leaving the ABC morning show, sources have confirmed.

Perez had taken off the month of January to appear in the Broadway play “Fish in the Dark,” but it’s understood that she won’t be coming back to the Hot Topics table once she’s done. It’s unclear when ABC will announce her departure, but for now “View” producers have been trying other younger co-hosts in her seat.

After declining steadily for a few years, ratings for “The View” have stabilized in its 18th season with new co-hosts Rosie O’Donnell and Nicolle Wallace joining moderator Whoopi Goldberg; the show is on par with last year in total viewers and down a bit in key demos. Perez was handpicked by the show’s new executive producer Bill Wolff as a last-minute choice after the show underwent a reinvention this past summer after the retirement of Barbara Walters.

Jared Leto Buys $5 Million Former Military Compound In Laurel Canyon

Jared Leto has just purchased at former military compound in Laurel Canyon for $5 million.

The property, which was sold for $750,000, was previously purchased in 1994 artist Mark Lipscomb and former judge John Ladner.

Originally built in the early '40s, the compound, often called Lookout Mountain Laboratory or the Lookout Mountain Air Force Station, was used by the military as a film studio to make propaganda films about atomic bomb tests until the late '60s.

The strange property has been on and off the market since 2010, when it was listed at $6.3 million. In early 2012 the property was relisted at $5.75 million. In late 2012 there were reports that the compound was being used as a high-end rehab facility.

'Boyhood' Wins Top Honor At Golden Globes

Richard Linklater's long journey to complete Boyhood is beginning to look pretty worthwhile.

The movie cemented its status as an Oscar frontrunner Sunday at the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards. Boyhood was named best drama, Linklater won for best director and his star Patricia Arquette garnered an honor for supporting actress for her portrayal of an underappreciated single mother.

"This is a very personal film for me, it couldn't be more personal, and it became very personal to everyone who worked on it," said Linklater, who filmed the coming-of-age movie with his crew once a year for 12 years.

"We're all flawed in this world, no one's perfect," he added, dedicating the director award to his parents and parents "who are evolving everywhere and families who are just passing through this world and doing their best."

Kathy Bates Injured, Screams Out in Pain at Golden Globes

Kathy Bates' night at the 2015 Golden Globes got off on the wrong foot on Sunday, Jan. 11. According to an eyewitness, the American Horror Story: Freak Show star was badly injured about an hour after the awards got under way at the Beverly Hilton.

The onlooker tells Us Weekly that Bates, 66, "screamed out in pain and almost collapsed" before steadying herself on a chair. It's unclear what happened, but the eyewitness speculated that someone may have stepped on her foot.

"She limped back to her table and looked to be crying in pain," the onlooker says, adding that people were en route to tend to the actress.
