Ray J Arrested In Beverly Hills For Allegedly Spitting On Cops

Ray J was busted by police after a disturbance at a swanky Beverly Hills hotel turned into a violent confrontation with cops.

Law enforcement sources say, Beverly Hills PD got a call Friday evening from someone claiming Ray J was causing a ruckus inside a bar at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel ... and officers were dispatched.

Sources say hotel staff asked Ray J to leave, but he refused. When officers arrived they took Ray J into custody -- but he did not go quietly. Once cuffed in the back seat of a patrol unit ... he allegedly kicked out a window of the vehicle.

Right now Ray is getting booked by Beverly Hills PD for trespassing, vandalism, resisting arrest, and battery, according to sources.

We're told the battery is for allegedly spitting on an officer during the arrest.

'Arsenio Hall Show' Cancelled After One Season

The plug has been pulled on Arsenio Hall's late-night talk show, for the second time.

CBS Television Distribution, which had renewed Arsenio Hall for a second season with much fanfare in February, changed its tune, and late Friday said the season that ended May 21 would be the only one for Hall, who had a five-year run with a more successful version of the show from 1989-94.

Though his revived show had a decent start early last September, it faded fast, averaging just 1 million viewers in a crowded late-night field, and several station owners made plans to move Hall to weaker time slots.

"While there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue," CBS said in a statement. The audience, in total and among young adults, was about the same as for Bethenny, Bethenny Frankel's daytime show, cancelled earlier after one season. And Katie Couric's show is also ending this year, despite a generally improved ratings for daytime TV.

"We all knew it would be a challenge," Hall said in a statement released by CBS. "I'm gratified for the year we've had and proud of the show we created."

Brad Pitt Attacker: Banned From Red Carpets and Brad & Angelina

Vitalii Sediuk appeared before the judge in L.A. County court to enter his plea -- and in addition to the hard labor ... he was sentenced to 36 months probation, $220 in fines, and ordered to stay 500 yards away from red carpets, movie premieres, and award shows.

Sediuk was already on probation for getting on stage with Adele and Jennifer Lopez at the 2013 Grammys -- so, he's now been ordered to stay 100 yards away from Staples Center and the L.A. Live complex, where the Grammys are held.

The judge instructed the Ukrainian prankster to stay away from Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie -- and the Hollywood and Highland shopping center, where the Brad attack went down.

Donald Sterling To Sue NBA For $1 Billion

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling plans to file a $1 billion lawsuit against the NBA, his lawyer confirmed to sources on Friday afternoon.

Sterling's decision comes one day after his wife Shelly Sterling reached agreement to sell the franchise for $2 billion to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Donald Sterling is "looking … separately" at possible legal action to stop the team's sale to Ballmer, Donald Sterling's attorney, Max Blecher, told sources.

The purpose of the $1 billion lawsuit against the NBA, Blecher said, is to seek damages for Sterling's lifetime ban and termination of ownership.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver banned Donald Sterling from the league for life, fined him $2.5 million and is seeking termination of Sterling's ownership of the Clippers after TMZ published an audio recording of Sterling telling his girlfriend he didn't want her bringing African-Americans to Clippers games. The league is proceeding with plans to hold a Tuesday hearing where the other 29 franchise owners will vote on whether to oust Sterling.

Charlize Theron Compares Media Coverage To Being "Raped"

During a sit down with Sky News, Charlize Theron, who is currently in the UK to promote her film A Million Ways to Die in the West, said she tries to avoid Googling herself because, "when you start living in that world, and doing that, you start feeling raped."

Maybe Sean Penn's lady love should look up the definition of rape because it actually means: "the unlawful compelling of a person through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse."

The comment has sparked outrage on the Internet for her insensitive comments. One Twitter user said, "She should try telling that to a real rape victim."

Zenobia Bharmal wrote, "So Charlize Theron compared Press intrusion to rape whilst giving an interview to a member of the press... she's a hypocrite and disgusting."

Katie Russell of the Rape Crisis England and Wales told the Daily Mail, "To us, it is always disappointing when someone high profile uses that language and turns sexual violence into a metaphor for something else."

Nicole Kidman is busy promoting her film Grace of Monaco, and the actress gave an usually candid interview to Women's Weekly where she discussed her children Connor and Isabella with ex Tom Cruise, as well as how family has changed her career aspirations.

"They are generous, kind and hard working. And these are the traits that I love to see in my children," she told the magazine.

The former couple adopted the two children in 1990, but after the A-list pair split in 2001, both son and daughter opted to live with their action star father in Los Angeles. The Australian beauty went on to marry Keith Urban, have two biological daughters, and move to Tennessee.

The mother-of-four would give it all up in a second for her home life, too.

Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer To Buy Los Angeles Clippers For NBA-Record $2 Billion

Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has reportedly won the bidding to buy the Los Angeles Clippers, submitting an NBA-record-setting offer of $2 billion to purchase the team from owners Donald and Shelly Sterling, according to James Rainey of the Los Angeles Times:

Ballmer, who was chief executive of Microsoft for 14 years, was chosen over competitors that included Los Angeles-based investors Tony Ressler and Steve Karsh and a group that included David Geffen and executives from the Guggenheim Group, the Chicago-based owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

A person with knowledge of the negotiations said the Geffen group bid $1.6 billion and Ressler [bid] $1.2 billion.

The sale price is almost four times the highest previous NBA franchise sale price — the $550 million paid earlier this month for the Milwaukee Bucks. It is second only to the Dodgers 2012 sale for $2.1 billion as the highest price for any sports team in North America.

'Jurassic World' To Feature Bigger Mutant Dinosaur

 

The past week hasn't exactly been dino-mite on the set of next summer's Jurassic World. Last week, Joblo.com revealed some plot details about the top-secret sequel. "[It] was discouraging for everyone on our crew—not because we want to hide things from the fans, but because we're working so hard to create something full of surprises," director Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) told /Film in a follow-up interview today. He also revealed a few spoilers about what to expect when Jurassic World opens to the public next July:

1. It takes place in a fully realized dinosaur park.

While the original Jurassic Park was never opened to the public, Jurassic World takes place in a functioning (and extremely popular) tourist destination on Isla Nublar, a dino-paradise near Costa Rica that draws more than 20,000 visitors a day. "It has elements of a biological preserve, a safari, a zoo, and a theme park," says Trevorrow, who notes there's also a golf course, restaurants and some sort of nightlife (we're guessing it's an EDM dance-club called Velocirapture). "It's the realization of John Hammond’s dream, and I think you'll want to go there."

2. There's a crazy-scary mutant dinosaur.

According to Trevorrow, the company behind the park has forced geneticists to make a "bigger, louder [dino], with more teeth" by bringing in DNA from their species. "This animal is not a mutant freak," he notes. "It doesn't have a snake's head or octopus tentacles. It's a dinosaur, created in the same way the others were, but now the genetics have gone to the next level."

LeVar Burton Hits $1 Million ‘Reading Rainbow’ Kickstarter Goal In Less Than 24 Hours

Take a look, it's booked: LeVar Burton has hit his “Reading Rainbow” Kickstarter goal of $1 million dollars in less than 24 hours.

Burton first tweeted out the news of the upcoming crowd-funded effort at 6:50 a.m. PT on Wednesday. By 5 p.m. PT, his campaign was a million dollars richer and fully funded.

At the time of this writing, Burton had more than 23,000 backers with 34 days to go. At 5:17 p.m. PT he thanked everyone who donated by tweeting “grateful.”

The actor's latest “Reading Rainbow” effort will create a new version of the show for the web. Burton also plans on offering a “classroom version” of the program for teachers and is spearheading a not-for-profit that will give copies of “Reading Rainbow” away to low-income schools for free.

The campaign raised money with rewards ranging from a special thanks on the website with a $5 pledge. While a $10,000 pledge would get you an extravagant private dinner with Burton in Los Angeles, plus the opportunity to wear the actor's original “Star Trek: The Next Generation” visor.

“Reading Rainbow” ran from 1983 to 2006 and continued in reruns until 2009.

Eric Stonestreet and KISS In Twitter Feud About Stonestreet’s Mom

In the past 24 hours, we’ve learned an important lesson from “Modern Family” star and Kansas City, Kan., native Eric Stonestreet: If you mess with his mom, you mess with him.

The actor posted an angry note on his Instagram account on Wednedsay, calling out Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of Kiss for being rude to his mom on a flight from Los Angeles to Kansas City.

“Gene tried to bully my mom out of her seat and when she said no, he said, it’s ok, I just bought the plane and then asked for HER autograph,” Stonestreet wrote.

“Then Paul called her Aunt Bee ... I can’t wait to run into you two old a-- makeup wearing f---- and tell you in person, you should have been nicer to my mom.”

Simmons and Stanley were en route to Kansas City for a benefit at their Overland Park restaurant, Rock & Brews, when they encountered Stonestreet’s mom.

"Someone posted a story which is blatantly untrue," Simmons said on Twitter about the incident. "The essence of it was that we were mean to somebody's mother. It's simply untrue."

Brad Pitt Attacked At Angelina's 'Maleficent' Premiere

What was supposed to be a night of celebration for Angelina Jolie took a turn for the bizarre when her date for the Hollywood premiere of Maleficent, Brad Pitt, was assaulted on the red carpet.

The couple was making their way through a gauntlet of fans and press toward the El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard when all hell broke loose.

"Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were signing autographs when a man jumped over the barrier and struck Mr. Pitt in the face,"

Event security wrestled the man to the ground and detained him until LAPD arrived, took him to the Hollywood precinct, and arrested him for battery.

Police identified the man as Vitalii Sediuk. And while you might not recognize his name, you undoubtedly know his modus operandi. He's the gonzo Ukrainian "journalist" whose résumé is chock-full of similar encounters with A-listers at high-profile events.

The Twilight actor covers the new issue of The Hollywood Reporter, and when asked whether he's still in contact with K. Stew, Rob simply (but cheerfully) says, "Oh, yeah." He won't elaborate on their relationship any further, but we do find it interesting he'd admit something like that.

Robert Pattinson chats about his new projects, and while he's got a slew of movies coming out, he says he's still a bundle of nerves when it comes time to audition. "I hate auditioning," he says. "I just can't do it. I get so nervous, like cripplingly nervous. I'm bad at them, and I feel awful afterward."

Still, he's a very in-demand star, and he revealed that Harmony Korine is penning a top secret project just for him. "We went to have dinner," RPattz says. "He was really nice. But it took me a long time to realize I could do that." So what's the storyline? "He won't even tell me what it's about," Pattinson says with a grin.

Adam Sandler On Why He Won’t Host ‘SNL’: ‘Why Should I?’

While on the road to promote his latest film “Blended,” Adam Sandler made an appearance on Norm Macdonald’s “Norm Macdonald Live” podcast and dished on why he won’t return to host “Saturday Night Live” and his departure from the variety skein.

“Why should I?” Sandler replied when asked why he won’t host. “I don’t know how good it would be. I’m slow now.”

Even when prodded by Macdonald, Sandler remained adamant that he’s done with the program.

“There are guys who love doing it — who are great at doing it,” Sandler told Macdonald. “I just don’t know how good I’d be doing it. I did what I can do on the show.”

Fellow “SNL” alum Macdonald also brought up the rumor that Eddie Murphy won’t host the show because of David Spade, but when asked about his departure from the show the multi-hyphenate simply responded, “I don’t know what happened.”

Sandler was fired from “SNL” in 1995 and former “Weekend Update” anchor Macdonald was also rumored to have been cut from the program when he left in 1997.

E! Confirms ‘Chelsea Lately’ To End, Sets 1 Hour Finale For August

E! has finally come around to confirming that its late-night talk show, “Chelsea Lately,” is coming to an end, almost two months after star and executive producer Chelsea Handler announced her intention to leave the network when her contract expires at the end of the year.

Despite the awkward ending to Handler's seven years on the cable network, E! plans a month-long run of special episodes and guests leading up to a one-hour “Chelsea Lately” series finale on August 26 at 11/10c.

Rob Kardashian is determined to drop his considerable gut after fleeing Kimye's wedding in fat shame  ... vowing to hit the gym EVERY DAY until he sees his toes again, Rob's trainer tells sources.

Author Maya Angelou Dies At 86

Maya Angelou was gratified, but not surprised by her extraordinary fortune.

"I'm not modest," she told The Associated Press in 2013. "I have no modesty. Modesty is a learned behavior. But I do pray for humility, because humility comes from the inside out."

Her story awed millions. The young single mother who worked at strip clubs to earn a living later danced and sang on stages around the world. A black woman born poor wrote and recited the most popular presidential inaugural poem in history. A childhood victim of rape, shamed into silence, eventually told her story through one of the most widely read memoirs of the past few decades.

Angelou, a Renaissance woman and cultural pioneer, died Wednesday morning at her home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, her son, Guy B. Johnson, said in a statement. 

The 86-year-old had been a professor of American studies at Wake Forest University since 1982.

"She lived a life as a teacher, activist, artist and human being. She was a warrior for equality, tolerance and peace," Johnson said.

Angelou had been set to appear this week at the Major League Baseball Beacon Awards Luncheon, but canceled in recent days citing an unspecified illness.

‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ Sequel in the Works

Gold Circle and HBO Films have begun developing a sequel along with Playtone Productions to the box office hit “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” with stars Nia Vardalos and John Corbett set to return.

Vardalos will write and star, with Rita Wilson, Playtone’s Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman producing. Paul Brooks, Scott Niemeyer, Norm Waitt, Steven Shareshian and Vardalos exec produce.

The story follows the lovably loud Portokalos family who return after a family secret is revealed and a bigger, fatter wedding brings the big fat Greek family back together again.

“Now that I’m experiencing motherhood, I’m ready to write the next chapter of my family story,” said Vardalos. “Of course, a few jaded folks in the press corps will claim I ran out of money or just want to kiss John Corbett again. One of these things is true.”

Vardalos is currently in development on “Leftovers” for Paramount and is also on a book tour for her New York Times bestseller “Instant Mom.”

Kendall Jenner Buys $1.4 Million Condo In West Los Angeles

Kendall Jenner just bought a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom condo for $1,399,000, and while it isn't the hippest neighborhood, it is a pretty nice pad.

The 2,068-square-foot residence is in a high-rise building at The Wilshire in West Los Angeles, and though mom Kris Jenner is listed on the documents, it's been reported that the 18-year-old reality starlet was the one who coughed up the dough. Well, a good portion of it -- TMZ says she paid $1.399 mil and got a $910,000 mortgage.

The home has hardwood floors and tons of windows, and according to listing info, it's been "magnificently remodeled to enhance the light and bright open floor plan design." There is a custom kitchen with stainless steel Subzero and Viking appliances, and from the wine cellar to the giant walk-in closet, it sounds like every girl's dream apartment. Well, maybe Kendall will have to wait a few more years to legally use the wine cellar.

'Blended' Among Adam Sandler's Biggest Box-Office Bummers

The Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore comedy Blended marked the first time the two stars have teamed for a movie in a decade. Given this weekend's reception at the box office, they may wait another 10 years for the next one.

Blended has managed to take in just $14 million over the first three days of the Memorial Day weekend, and will likely top out at $18 million for the four days. It's not a financial disaster for distributor Warner Bros. or Sandler's Happy Madison Productions, since Blended cost roughly $45 million to produce. But it's among the worst openings ever for Sandler.

It's a little over the $13.4 million That's My Boy managed in 2012, but way under the $25 million that Jack and Jill debuted to in 2011. Blended didn't match Sandler and Barrymore's previous collaborations, either. It couldn't take in half of the $39.8 million that 2004's  50 First Dates opened with, and it was even behind The Wedding Singer, which opened to $18 million in 1998 — and that's not accounting for inflation.

All the Details From Inside Kim Kardashian's Wedding Party

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's reception was one swanky affair.

The two got married on Saturday at Fort Belvedere in Florence, Italy -- and celebrated with one wild after party following the gorgeous ceremony.

Guests were seated at a 224-foot marble table, with their names engraved in gold at their seats. The giant table offered stunning views of the Florence skyline as guests reportedly feasted on chicken, steak, salmon, tortellini and a ton of champagne. We're told the food was even dusted in gold flakes -- how fancy, right?

And John Legend, who attended the celebration with wife Chrissy Teigen, performed his hit "All of Me" for the crowd -- reportedly telling Kim "Kanye was inspired by you, knew he was in love with you, knew you were the one."

But that wasn't the first dance -- Legend also kicked things off by singing Etta James' "At Last."

While everyone attending had to sign confidentiality agreements and apparently hand over their cell phones, guests all started sharing pictures from the photo booth after the party ended. The entire event was organized by party planner Sharon Stacks, who also did Kim's wedding to Kris Humphries.

Shelly Sterling Meets With Microsoft Billionaire To Sell Clippers

Shelly Sterling will meet with former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer Sunday afternoon ... and the subject of the meeting is selling the Clippers.

The meeting will take place at Shelly's Malibu mansion. As previously reported. Donald Sterling has surrendered control of the team to Shelly.

We're told Shelly sees the handwriting on the wall -- the NBA wants the team sold -- but she wants to do it on her terms. She and her lawyer, Pierce O'Donnell, have been secretly meeting with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to see if they can reach an agreement whereby Shelly has the right to voluntarily sell the team.

Shelly is taking matters into her own hands. Ballmer -- worth an estimated $20 billion -- has indicated he wants to buy the team.  We're told O'Donnell will be present at the meeting.

Here's the rub for L.A. fans. Although Ballmer has publicly said if he bought the team he would keep it in the City of Angels ... he's deeply entrenched in Seattle. He was actively trying to keep the Sonics in his home city before the team moved to Oklahoma. With such deep family ties and city pride ... there's fear Ballmer would move the team North.

Box Office: 3-Day Studio Estimates: 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Arrives with Strong $90.7M

Fox's X-Men: Days of Future Past debuted in first place this weekend with a strong estimated $90.70 million take over the three-day frame. The highly anticipated and pricey 3D comic book sequel debuted towards the lower end of its massive pre-release expectations and successfully brought the X-Men franchise back into the box office spotlight with its debut. Without adjusting for ticket price inflation, Days of Future Past delivered the fifth largest three-day Memorial Day weekend take of all-time.

After exceeding expectations last weekend, Warner's Godzilla came back down to earth a bit this weekend with an estimated second place take of $31.43 million. 

Warner Bros. had far less impressive results with Blended, as the comedy starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore opened in third place with an estimated $14.25 million over the three-day frame. Blended opened below pre-release expectations, which had already been scaled back for a film starring Sandler. Audiences weren't in the mood for another pairing of Sandler and Barrymore and the film's very poor critical reviews didn't help matters either.

The singer shared a cryptic message on Twitter Friday, writing, "I love that every time I find a box of Girl Scout cookies I'm pregnant. Guilty: I'm having a thin mint:)."

No one knows for sure if the mother-of-one is just joking around, but her fans immediately began tweeting their congratulations.

Earlier this month, Pink's hubby Carey Hart took to Twitter to shoot down rumors that his wife was pregnant.

It started when OK! magazine asked if the couple if they were "hiding a big secret." The reason? A witness reportedly spotted the pair "cuddling, and he kept rubbing her tummy."
