Vinny Returns to 'Jersey Shore' Maybe

Vinny Guadagnino -- who bailed on "Jersey Shore" last week after getting in a fight with a cast member -- is having dinner tonight with the rest of the cast, and we're told if things go well ... he might be returning to the house. Although almost everyone affiliated with the show was none-too-sad to see him leave, apparently some have had a change of heart. We're told the cast is actually going to lobby tonight for Vinny to return.

They plan on going clubbing after dinner so assuming no one gets knocked out it could be the rapprochement that makes for a decent storyline.

Jennifer Lopez is Coming Back to American Idol

Jennifer Lopez is coming back to American Idol.

A little over a week ago, it was announced that Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson had signed deals for more time at the judges' table. Lopez has also agreed to return. A source tells me exclusively an announcement could be coming any day now.

The singer-actress said in an interview about a month ago that she hadn't decided what she was going to do.

"I don't know. I haven't been forced to make a decision and I'm glad about that because honestly I'm very on the fence about it," the first year judge told Scott Mills of BBC 1, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"I had an amazing time doing it and I loved it, but I have a lot other things happening, and it's going to come down to me making a choice of what I want to do for the next year and we're not really at the breaking point of 'You have to make a decision right now!' I'm just really enjoying the time of just waiting and seeing." Lopez will be sitting at the Fox table at BAFTA's Brits to Watch gala tonight. She was invited by Fox television boss Peter Rice.

Jennifer Lopez has also surprised her mom, Lupe, by flying her to L.A. to attend the BAFTA event with her. Marc Anthony will not be there.

Hines Ward Arrested for DUI

Hines Ward, star wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers and reigning "Dancing With the Stars" champion was arrested this morning for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Ward was popped in Dekalb County, GA and held on $1,000 bond. He posted shortly thereafter and was released. 

Casey Anthony to Mom: Turn on Me, I'll Turn You Away

Casey Anthony exacted some payback against her mother Cindy yesterday by refusing to see her in jail this after Cindy testified against Casey.

Orange County Correction Department spokesman Allen Moore said Cindy tried scheduling a visit for 7:00 PM, but Casey wasn't having it. Anthony has only met with her attorneys since the acquittal.

After Cindy testified, she mouthed the words "I love you" in Casey's direction but Casey simply rolled her eyes.

Casey is set to be released on July 17.

Pot Prosecutor Wants Mercy for Willie Nelson

Willie Nelson's fortunes may have changed dramatically the guy who's prosecuting him for pot possession is not going along with the judge who wants to nail the singer and Willie could walk.

The judge in Wilie's Texas marijuana case rejected a plea deal struck between Willie and the D.A. in which Willie would have paid $500 and the case would have gone away. The judge felt the deal reeked of celebrity justice so he told them to come up with a stronger punishment with a maximum of one year in jail.

But there's a "strong possibility" the prosecutor will not recommend a stronger punishment, but instead just sit on the case until it's dismissed for lack of prosecution.

Call it defiant, but the prosecutor is riding a wave in Texas to treat marijuana possession for what it is and not fill the overcrowded jails with recreational potheads.

Tila Tequila Leaving Los Angeles for New York FOR GOOD!

 

Tila says she feels LA is "played out" and she's "ready to conquer NYC" -- so the reality star is packing up her stuff and moving to The Big Apple for GOOD next weekend. 

Ms. Tequila tells us, "I'm looking forward to starting a new life in NYC. A clean slate and a fresh start. I just want to be a normal girl with a normal life for a while. I just want to meet new friends, fall in love, get married, have babies, and call it a day!"

Yao Ming Set to Retire From the NBA

Yao Ming, the Houston Rockets’ 7-foot-6 center from China, has decided to retire after nine NBA seasons, Yahoo! Sports has reported, citing league sources.

Yao, the 30-year-old, eight-time NBA All-Star, played in only five games since the 2008-09 season due to an assortment of injuries, the latest being a stress fracture in left foot for which he underwent surgery earlier this January.

Ming first rose to prominence playing for the Shanghai Sharks as a teenager before starring on the Chinese national team. After negotiating with the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) for a contract release, the Rockets made him the No. 1 overall selection in the 2002 NBA draft.

Over the course of his injury-plagued NBA career, Yao averaged 19 points, 9 boards, and nearly two blocked shots per contest – numbers that landed him on the All-NBA team five times. Despite his phenomenal God-given abilities, it was injuries that kept Yao from ever reaching his full potential – and simultaneously prevented the Rockets from reaching the ultimate prize – an NBA Championship.

“If he was never injured, he would have been one of the greatest centers ever,” said Rafer Alston, a point guard for the Rockets from 2005-09. “You can’t guard him. You had to foul him. He’s 7-6, so he has a height advantage. He had the jump hook over the shoulder. If he was healthy we would have gone far.”

Shaquille O’Neal said it best a recent online video post congratulating Yao:

It may not be as buzzed-about as her wedding gown, but after a week of fabulous fashion during her tour of Canada, the Duchess of Cambridge's dress for her only black-tie event, a BAFTA dinner in Los Angeles, does have fans on the edge of their seats.

While loading luggage onto the Royal plane in Yellowknife, Canada on Wednesday, one soldier lifted a garment bag containing a rosy pleated floor-length gown and belt, presumably belonging to the princess-to-be. Reminiscent of the pretty Jenny Packham gown she wore in June, the style is very Kate – and will be perfect for hobnobbing with Hollywood brass at the BAFTA "Brits To Watch" dinner, where the guest list includes Jennifer Lopez, Tom Hanks and Nicole Kidman.

Rupert Grint Feels "Empty and Lost" Now That Harry Potter's Over

Many people are feeling a bit glum in the wake of the franchise's final release, but none more so than Grint as he told the press:

“I loved every minute of it, and I’m really going to miss it. I felt empty and a bit lost, and it’s taken me a while to accept it’s over.”

Grint went to say how the films started to take precedent over his earlier, slightly less glamorous, career ambition:

“When Harry Potter started, I wanted to be an ice-cream man, but the films showed me that I wanted to be an actor, although for the first three I didn’t take it very seriously.

He added, “I just stood where I was told and read my lines. Then with the fourth film I started caring about my performance.”

Mark Wahlberg And Jonah Hill To Star In Action Buddy Comedy, Good Time Gang

Mark Wahlberg and Jonah Hill are teaming up for the new buddy action comedy, Good Time Gang. The actors will play “party-happy mercenaries” who agree to a job involving a known terrorist, then find out one of the two men are related to their intended target, according to the LA Times. The project is reportedly being constructed to mirror Lethal Weapon, with more of an emphasis action over the comedy.

Wahlberg is currently producing Home Game and Contraband, while Hill can next be seen in the big screen remake of 21 Jump Street, costarring Channing Tatum.

Betty Ford Has Passed Away 1918-2011

Former first lady and wife of President Gerald Ford has passed away today.
She was 93 years old. She was the co-founder of an eponymous addiction center in California.

"She was a powerful advocate for women’s health and women’s rights," said President Obama in a statement. "After leaving the White House, Mrs. Ford helped reduce the social stigma surrounding addiction and inspired thousands to seek much-needed treatment."

As First Lady, Ford focused her attention on handicapped children, women's issues and the arts, having studied modern dance at Bennington College in Vermont. She also strongly supported the Equal Rights Amendment.

After undergoing radical surgery for breast cancer in 1974, she advocated for increased public awareness of the disease. "Maybe if I as First Lady could talk about it candidly and without embarrassment, many other people would be able to as well," she said.

Similarly, in the second of her two memoirs, Betty: A Glad Awakening, Ford revealed in candid detail her own recovery from chemical dependency in the 1970s. She helped establish the Betty Ford Center at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif., where she and her husband spent their retirement years.

The first trailer is out for Adam Sandler's upcoming comedy Jack and Jill in which he plays a man and that man's twin sister.

This is old hat for Sandler he used to cross-dress on Saturday Night Live, and as usual he's cast many of his friends in bit parts in the movie.

The couple was met at the airport by California Governor Jerry Brown, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and the British ambassador to the U.S., Sir Nigel Sheinwald. William wore a dark suit (his go-to look), white Kate wore a white or light gray belted dress. The dress appeared to have asymmetrical sleeves that showed off her developed arms.

While in California, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will go to a trade conference before a reception at the Hancock Park home of Dame Barbara Hay. They will also attend a polo match tomorrow and a star-studded BAFTA event tomorrow night.

The Situation Sued for $1 Million After 86ing Manager

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino's ex manager just filed a $1 million lawsuit against him ... alleging he was wrongfully dumped after taking him from "relative obscurity" to stardom.

The Manager's Co., Gotham NYC Entertainment, filed the suit today ... claiming the Situation dumped Gotham back in May for what he deemed a "lack of performance." 

Gotham denies any poor performance -- but even if there was ... the lawsuit claims Sitch was contractually required to give Gotham 30 days notice ... and a chance to correct any issues.

Gotham claims it never got that opportunity -- and therefore Sorrentino is in breach of his contract.

In the suit, Gotham says it's managed Situation since the 2009 premiere of "Jersey Shore" and it not only discovered Sitch, but transformed "his career from relative obscurity to become an international celebrity."

Gotham is suing for damages in excess of $1 million.

It didn't take lucky lucky lucky Heidi Klum and Seal very long to unload their Beverly Hills, CA mansion, though they did sell it at a significant loss.

Property records show the supermodel/entertainment mogul and the soulful singer bought the privately situated 6,794 square foot house on 2.49 acres in late 2005 for $7,600,000. They listed the 6 bedroom and 10 bathroom mansion–described in listing information as a Loire Valley Chateau–in mid-May 2011 with an asking price of $6,900,000. Within two weeks, the house was in escrow and three weeks after that the deal was done for $7,000,000. Yes, puppies, that's a hundred grand more than the asking price but it's also a substantial $600,000 less they they paid for the posh property not counting carrying costs, renovations and/or the fat real estate fees.

The buyer, according to the property records Your Mama peeped, is Canadian investment banker, mining magnate, entertainment executive and left-leaning philanthropist Frank Giustra. Although he's sold much of his stake in the company, Mister Giustra is perhaps best known to Tinseltown types as the founder of the independent film production and distribution company Lions Gate Entertainment. He's also a well-known crony of former U.S. president Bill Clinton. They are, in fact, thick as thieves: Mister Giustra has on several occasions lent his private plane and accompanied President Clinton on various international trips, some of which proved extraordinarily lucrative to the Canadian.

Mister Giustra's home base is in West Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada) where he owns a deluxe waterfront estate on the Burrard Inlet.

As for Miz Klum and Mister Seal, they've decamped for an 8.5(ish) acre estate with a 12,300 square foot Mediterranean mansion in the Brentwood Country Estates, the same small and swank gated enclave tucked into the hills above Brentwood where some of the other home owners include supermodel Gisele Bündchen and pro pigskinner Tom Brady, philandering former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Band-Aid heiress Libet Johnson (who we hear through the real estate grapevine leases out her house), and Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber bin Muhammad Al Thani, the current prime minister of Qatar. Property records show they paid $14,200,000 for their new digs back in December 2010.

Lady Gaga Is Starving Herself Her New Book Claims

In an interview with Star magazine, writer Ian Halperin is claiming that Lady Gaga, 25, is literally starving herself for her career. Halperin, who has spent a year researching and writing a tell-all book about the pop star, told the mag:

"Those who have worked with her on tour reported to me that Gaga barely ate for weeks at a time to fit into her costume. She is sick and obsessed with her weight. One friend told me Gaga will stare at herself in the mirror for hours on end, analyzing and critiquing her body. It's an unhealthy obsession."

In addition, Halperin, who has also written unauthorized biographies of Michael Jackson and Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie, says Gaga has tried every drug under the sun.

"From heroin to cocaine and ecstasy, her friends say that she has done every drug conceivable," he says. "You name it, she has done it. ... Her drug use started young."

In Gaga's defense, she has never denied that she used to party hard. Mother Monster admitted that in 2005 she was regularly doing cocaine.

Xzibit is leading a new charge AGAINST "planking" ... claiming the practice has RACIST roots.

Arnold Keeps The House, The Rest Is Up For Grabs

Arnold Schwarzenegger will get the family home in Brentwood, CA as part of his divorce settlement with Maria Shriver but virtually nothing else has been worked out.

It's been said there will be no issue. All of the assets in the marriage are community property, which means Arnold and Maria have a 50/50 interest. But we're told Arnold, Maria and their reps are "in the very beginning stages" of deciding who gets what.

As we first reported, there is no prenup. We're told when Arnold and Maria married, they had "very little in the way of assets compared to what they have now."  The combined wealth of the former couple is estimated at around $400 million.

And, as we reported, Maria is in escrow to buy a home valued at around $10 million. The house is also in Brentwood, approximately 3 miles from the family home. Maria wanted to be close so the kids could easily go back and forth.

As for the exact percentage of the spoils Arnold and Maria will ultimately walk away with, it hasn't even been discussed.  "It's very early in the process" says one source with direct knowledge.

Adele Leads Record Industry to Sales Spike

After a decade of declining sales, Adele and Lady Gaga have led the record industry to the first increase in overall record sales since 2004.

According to data released by Nielsen SoundScan, total album sales have gone up by 1% in the first half of 2011 in comparison to the same period last year. It's a fairly minor change, but certainly a positive sign after years of double digit percentage drops.

Adele's "21" has been the year's biggest album to date, with over 2.5 million sold since it was released in late February. The disc has been a consistent best-seller -- it has spent 10 nonconsecutive weeks at Number One and has never ranked lower than Number Three on the albums chart.

It is also the year's best-selling digital album, with 992,000 copies sold to date, along with 4.1 million digital sales for the single "Rolling in the Deep." ("21" is expected to soon surpass Eminem's "Recovery" as the best-selling digital album in history.)

By comparison, Gaga's sales have been concentrated on a record-setting premiere week in which her latest record "Born This Way" sold 1.1 million copies.

Casey Anthony's Release Pushed Back to July 17

The release date for Casey Anthony has been rescheduled for July 17, not July 13 as originally planned, Florida's Orange County Corrections said in a statement late Thursday. The new date is a result of "a detailed recalculation of the projected release date," according the statement from Allen Moore, the department's public information officer. The statement gave no details on how the extra days were calculated.

Earlier Thursday, Judge Belvin Perry sentenced Anthony to four years in jail -- one year for each of her four convictions of lying to police -- but with credit for the approximately three years already served and good behavior, leaving her with six days left to serve. The corrections department's recalculation put that remainder at 10 days. Denying a defense motion to reduce the four counts to a single conviction, Perry gave Anthony the maximum jail time he could by ruling that the four years be served consecutively.

He also fined her $1,000 for each count. Court papers show she is also ordered to pay court costs and fees totalling just over $600.

Box Office Preview: 'Horrible Bosses' and 'Zookeeper' Take on 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon'

Since its debut last Wednesday, Transformers: Dark of the Moon has been utterly dominant at the box office, amassing a gigantic $204.4 million in its first eight days of release.

This weekend, Horrible Bosses and Zookeeper will do their best to compete with Transformers, but the Michael Bay film is all but guaranteed another weekend atop the chart. That’s not to say that the newcomers won’t do well for themselves — they very well might — but in this battle between people, animals, and machines.

I’ve got my money on the robots.

News Corp to Close 'News of the World' in Wake of Scandal

The British Metropolitan police have informed Andy Coulson, former media adviser to British Prime Minister David Cameron, that he will be arrested Friday in connection with the News of the World phone-hacking scandal.

The scandal dominated headlines in the United Kingdom and United States on Thursday and left  Murdoch - who was at a mogul's retreat in Sun Valley, Idaho - avoiding journalists.

James Murdoch, chairman and CEO of News Corp. Europe and Asia, said News of the World  will close Sunday after 168 years in operation.

"The good things the News of the World does, have been sullied by behavior that was wrong," Murdoch, son of News Corp. chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch, said in a statement.

"If recent allegations are true, it was inhuman and has no place in our company."

Megan Fox has been getting some negative attention as of late since Transformers: Dark of the Moon premiered successfully without her and former co-star Shia LaBeouf revealed that the two had hooked up on set.

Meryl Streep Plays Margaret Thatcher in 'The Iron Lady' Trailer

Meryl Streep has played a nuclear-power whistleblower, an accused traitor, and a beloved icon of televised cooking. And now Streep is taking on the role of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the upcoming biopic "The Iron Lady."

Though the movie isn't due to hit theaters until December 16, the world is getting a sneak peek at how Streep will apply her chameleonic powers to the role of Thatcher in a new teaser-trailer for "The Iron Lady."

Prince William And Kate To Party With A-List Celebs In Hollywood

Prince William and new bride Kate Middleton are making their Hollywood debut at this Saturday's BAFTA gala, and they'll be walking the red carpet alongside some major celebs!

After all, Hollywood is like America's royalty. So, Will and Kate will rub elbows with Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Nicole Kidman, Tom Hanks, Kristin Chenoweth, Derek Hough, Ginnifer Goodwin, Mekhi Phifer, Maria Bello, Gemma Arterton, director Jason Reitman, Zooey Deschanel, Juno Temple, Tom Hughes and Talulah Riley at the soiree.

The BAFTA Brits to Watch event will celebrate 42 on-the-rise Brits, including Temple, Hughes and Rile, in Hollywood, with the red carpet scheduled for the Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Before the BAFTA gala, Will and Kate will attend after a charity polo match in Santa Barbara, in which Will will compete.

This will be Kate's first visit to the U.S.

Shia LaBeouf turned down 'The Social Network'

Star of Transformers 3, Shia LeBeouf, has revealed that he turned down leading parts in The Social Network and 127 Hours.

He also walked away from talks to feature in future blockbusters The Bourne Legacy and Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Shia told Details magazine "I'm looking for Warren Beatty-type game changers."

By turning down David Fincher’s Facebook epic and Danny Boyle’s intense survival thriller, LaBeouf has missed out on three Oscars, seven Golden Globes and numerous other cumulative accolades. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is the upcoming prequel to Planet of the Apes and, like 127 Hours, stars James Franco (rumours that Franco is LaBeouf’s secret understudy are as yet unconfirmed).

The Bourne Legacy will be the fourth installment in the Bourne saga with Jeremy Renner (The Town) replacing Matt Damon in the titular role.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is currently busy breaking box office records.

'All My Children' and 'One Life to Live' Will Continue Online

All My Children and One Life to Live will have another life online, ABC announced today. The network has licensed the canceled sudsers to Prospect Park, a media and production company founded in 2009 by Jeffrey Kwatinetz and former Disney Studios head Rich Frank. (The company’s best known for producing Royal Pains for USA and Wilfred for FX.)

The exclusive, multi-year deal will allow the soaps to continue beyond their finale dates. All My Children ends it run on ABC on Sept. 23 while One Life to Live is set to sunset in January.

Prospect Park will produce and deliver the soaps via online formats and “additional emerging platforms” that include internet enabled television sets. Under the terms of the arrangement, ABC promises that the programs will “continue to be delivered with the same quality and in the same format and length.”

Maria Shriver isn't waiting for her divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger to become final before moving on. She's buying a $10 million home in an exclusive area of L.A.

Sources connected with the deal tell us ... the home is in Brentwood -- not too far from where O.J. Simpson lived at the time he killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

Maria had been actively looking at homes for 6 months on the west side of L.A., but has now settled on a home near the one she shared with Arnold.

We're told the couple is determined to keep their divorce amicable, with both Arnold and Maria getting joint custody of their two minor children.  The proximity of the two homes will make shared custody easier. The deal is still in escrow, but we're told it's solid and will close soon.
