J.J. Abrams and his wife have bought a $14.5 million pad in Pacific Palisades, and this one is a HUGE upgrade over the $5.2 million home they bought in 2005. In fact, it's nearly double the square footage!

The Abrams family picked up the 8,000-square-foot home in early February (it was listed for $15.35 million), and it has 7 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms and sits on a .6 acre lot. In case you didn't know, Abrams is the writer/producer responsible for hits on the big and small screen, including Star Trek, Mission Impossible, Fringe, Heroes, Lost, Alias and Felicity. His net worth is estimated to be around $100 million, but that seems a bit low to us.

The gated estate sits on the San Remo Rim in the Palisades Riviera, and it is described as a "Connecticut traditional" with views of the city and the ocean. The exterior is white with green shutters and a Vermont slate roof, and the inside has a combination of hardwood and tile, not to mention some extremely dated-looking wallpaper. In addition to a gourmet center island kitchen, there is a guest suite, a massive wine cellar, an office and a gym. Outside there is a lushly landscaped lawn, a pool and spa and there's even a stone path and a garden.
