Despite massive power outages on the East Coast, MTV came out WINNING!
The 2011 Video Music Awards pulled in record-breaking numbers: 12.4 million viewers tuned in, making it the most watched MTV telecast in the network's twenty year history.
The show appeared to be aided by Beyoncé's pregnancy announcement -- and Lady Gaga's drag alter ego Jo Calderone. The 2011 VMAs were up 9% in total viewers and 8% in the 12-34 age range from last year's show.
Sunday night's show was also the number one cable telecast of 2011. Looks like MTV is back in the music business - at least for now....
