“America's Got Talent” is all about shock value — and so is Howard Stern.
The shock jock radio host is in talks to replace Piers Morgan as a judge on the popular NBC talent show, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Stern, who could join Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne behind the judges table, would reportedly rake in $15 million a year under the deal being discussed.
Wacky talent is nothing new for the show, where performers range from classical musicians to flame-throwing jugglers, sword swallowers and acrobats. During the summer, the hit talent show drew as many as 14 million viewers, the WSJ reports.
Morgan announced Wednesday night that he was leaving the show after six years to focus on his CNN program, “Piers Morgan Tonight,” in order to better cover the 2012 presidential elections.
“I’ve loved every single second, but discovered that juggling, to my surprise, really is a bit more difficult than I thought,” he said.
To close the new deal, NBC is reportedly considering moving the Los Angeles-based show to New York, where Stern would continue to host his satellite radio show for Sirius XM. It’s a move that would cost the network an additional $10 million, the WSJ reports.
Stern has expressed interest in being a talent judge before, telling “Access Hollywood” last year that “American Idol” needed him to spice things up.
“They’ve got a bunch of people on there who don’t have an opinion,” he said. If Stern makes the move to “AGT,” he’s got the approval of show host Nick Cannon, who said the addition would be “amazing.”
