'Harry Potter' Soars Past $200 MILLION

On Tuesday, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 rocketed past the $200 million mark in just five days. The only other movies to hit $200 million in five days were The Dark Knight and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Though its total climbed to a whopping $202.6 million, Deathly Hallows: Part 2 didn't break the five-day opening gross record. It fell short of The Dark Knight's $203.8 million five-day haul, ranking second on the all-time five-day chart. Normalized for ticket-price inflation, Deathly Hallows: Part 2 would drop to ninth.

Deathly Hallows: Part 2's $15.4 million Tuesday was the fifth-highest grossing non-opening Tuesday ever. The Dark Knight still holds that record with $20.9 million, though both movies had Monday-to-Tuesday drops of around 15 percent.

As a franchise, Harry Potter has generated $2.211 billion, and, on Wednesday, it should edge out Star Wars's $2.218 billion to become the top-grossing franchise of all time!
